Reya El-Salahi is a British born presenter, reporter and journalist. Working in radio and television for almost a decade, with extensive broadcasting experience in news and current affairs.
Reya is a presenter/reporter for TV channel, London Live – Covering everything from breaking news to entertainment and in-depth interviews.
Reya recently presented BBC Three’s first podcast, ThreeCast (April 2016).
Her previous roles include presenting a popular BBC radio programme specialising in news and current affairs for diverse communities in Nottinghamshire (BBC Radio Nottingham), while also contributing to the award-winning BBC online news strand, BBC UK Black.
As a documentary filmmaker Reya has travelled internationally. In 2011 she presented the BBC Three television documentary Mixed Up in the Middle East.
Her next film, Beggar Off, launched London Live’s flagship documentary strand (2014).
Other past credits include the BBC’s specialist diversity reporter (BBC local radio, BBC UK Black), live travel correspondent (BBC Radio 5live, BBC Radio 4, BBC News Channel), Asian Network Reports news presenter/reporter, and Channel 4’s in-house reporter for its online 4Talent strand.
In 2014 she was one of the recipients of the BBC’s annual diversity award for work representing black British communities in news and current affairs. Prior to this she was named one of Britain’s most outstanding graduates (Powerful Media’s Future Leaders list).
Reya has a BA Hons in Sociology from the University of Nottingham and a Postgraduate Diploma in Broadcast Journalism from the London College of Communication – for which she was awarded a full Bloomberg scholarship.
